Single-Speed Conversions
Properly converting a disc-braked mountain bike to single-speed requires more than just changing the rear hub.
Without a derailleur to maintain chain tension, a special eccentric bottom bracket is the preferable conversion technique. Alternatively rear track tips can be used if the bike will only ever be running V-brakes.
At Kiwibikes, owner and frame builder Jeff Anderson routinely builds single speed mountain bikes from scratch, and also converts existing frames (we source or you supply) for single speed riding.
